Position Summary

 

Working with the Human Resource and Finance Team, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the data accuracy of Mount Carmel Clinic payroll system and full cycle processing of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees, including routine, ad hoc and year-end reports. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the administration of employee group benefits and pension plans.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary qualification in Accounting or Business Administration and/or Canadian Payroll Association certification
  • 1-3 years of payroll experience
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

 

Skills, Expertise, and Experience

  • Experience in the health care sector preferred
  • Experience providing administrative support in a unionized environment required
  • Experience working with Payworks Payroll System
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation required
  • Proven knowledge of payroll administration, employment legislation, and compliance regulations
  • General accounting knowledge coupled with excellent analytical skills in processing information is an asset
  • Ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing and recording of bi-weekly payrolls
  • Completing ROE’s and T4 slips as required
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, ad hoc, and yearly reports, including reconciliations
  • Administration of group insurance benefits and pension plans
  • Processing enrollments, changes, terminations, and LOA's
  • Demonstrated ability to meet, high impact deadlines with tight timelines in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills, customer service and problem-solving abilities, and the initiative to follow through on matters independently
